Sabotaged Survey
The first block up from the beach on Chapala is Mason. This photo
shows the error accumulated in distance when the measurements with the leather
patched survey chain is reversed because Haleys Native crew refused to carry
the chain back to the beach when the survey returned to the shore. They
measured back and reversed the direction of the linear error. The next block
of Mason street west jogs the same distance the other direction.
